May Studio Showcase

All recreation and company performance classes will prepare a dance routine and perform in the studio showcase each May!


Dancers in multiple classes will learn a routine for each class that they are in.

We are excited to showcase the talent and hard work of our students in the upcoming performance, Second to None! Below is some important information for parents and families to ensure the event runs smoothly for both students and guests.


Arrival & Pickup

  • Call time: 4:15 PM for the 5:00 show / 6:15 PM for the 7:00 show

  • Drop Off Location: Black box theater entrance on Van Buren.
    (For younger dancers, please drop a parent off to make sure your kid gets checked in. There is no parking or stopping, so please arrange accordingly.)

  • Pickup: Come to the Black box theater entrance to get your dancer after the show!

  • In Both Shows? Dancers will need to stay between shows. Please drop off dinner after show 1 at the back entrance or send a lunchbox with your dancer. Bring something to change into between shows. No eating in costumes! Note: Food will only be allowed between shows and in the designated eating area!

Come Ready to Perform

  • Costume: Arrive in costume with all accessories secured on.

  • Shoes: Wear street shoes and bring your dance shoes

  • Hair and Makeup: Arrive with hair and makeup DONE according to the guides we sent 

What to Bring

  • Small bag: Backstage area is small. Keep bags small and bring essentials only.

  • Dance Socks/Shoes: Make sure you have the right ones for your performance.

  • Snacks: Be mindful. Your dancer or another dancer WILL spill whatever you send with them on their costume. Dry snacks like crackers and small fruit snacks only.

  • Water Bottle: Water only. NO electrolyte powders or juices. No Stanleys/tumblers.

  • Sweater or Zip-up sweatshirt: Make sure it fits easily over their costume.

  • LABEL EVERYTHING with your dancer’s name

What NOT to Bring

  • Valuables

  • Toys

  • Large Bags

  • Messy Food / Colored or flavored beverages

  • Anything that is not essential to performing

For Dancers with Costume Changes

  • Dream Duffle or Plastic Bin

  • All Additional Costumes/Shoes/Socks/Accessories/Bobby pins/Makeup

  • Organization: Hangers/Ziploc bags for accessories

  • LABEL EVERYTHING! Hangers, costume pieces, accessories, shoes, etc.

Backstage Policy

  • No Parents Backstage: We will have teachers and supervisors backstage to make sure your children are safe. Please enjoy the show from the audience :)

  • Communication: If there is an emergency while your child is backstage, go to the drop-off point and request your dancer. Big emergencies ONLY please.

Performance Details

  • Doors Open: The Herberger Theater will open its doors 30 minutes prior to the show.

  • Showtime: Performances will start promptly. Parking/traffic can be difficult, so arrive way earlier than you think you need to.

  • Arriving Late: If you are late, you need to wait until applause to enter the auditorium. Have your seat area memorized so you can get there quickly during the blackout. Walking in during a dance number is very inappropriate. Do not be rude and block other’s view of their children’s dance. Dancers work all year to be on stage for 2 minutes, so please don’t be that person who ruins that 2-minutes for their family! COME EARLY!

  • Duration: The showcase will run approximately 90 minutes, with a 10-minute intermission.

Parking and Venue Information

  • Parking: Please go to the Herberger Theater Center page to learn about their recommended parking garages. Most parking is paid. Please plan accordingly to ensure a timely arrival.

  • Entrance: Parents and guests should enter through the main doors of the Herberger Theater Center.

Tickets

  • Tickets are sold by Herberger Theater Center. We will send a link to purchase tickets when they go live.

Costume Fees:
$95 per enrolled class
($110 for late orders)

Recital Fees:
$55 flat fee per dancer

All recital fees are charged to your
studio account (Gym Desk) on January 11th and are non refundable once charged!
